Update #3

Troops are in good spirits. Training regimens are ramping up to Phase 2. Cardio and upper arm work is essential to the task. Strength coaches arrived yesterday.

Rope climbs on repeat. The Creature’s tendrils have been tested ad nauseam. They appear to be climbable, but it’s risky. Without the samples we can only get from a climb, we won’t know if the Creature has physiological defenses related to the tendrils. It’s a troubling catch 22.

We’ll organize 3 teams. The Expeditionary Force which will be those that perform the best in the training plus the scientists. The other two will be support. They’ll be heavily armed (copies of the submitted req. forms attached here) to ensure that any hostile response from the Creature can be dealt with immediately and comprehensively.

The field has been cleared. All air traffic out of Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Chicago has been rerouted to avoid the area by a few hundred miles.

The latest reports have the Creature floating within half a mile of its origin point. Still no word on how it got there, what it’s doing while it’s there. All communication attempts have failed. For all we know, it might just be giant jellyfish floating above an Indiana corn field.

No. We know better than that.

Camp should break in four days. Exercises are planned for this afternoon to simulate the climb-and-sample execution. I have full confidence in our boys.
